View from the stern

Thirty years working in the marine industry, fixing boats, navigating them, preparing them for sale, teaching others to do the same. On the water, under the water, around the water. From small wooden rowing boats to 40 metre motor yachts, I have seen the good, the bad and the odd. I did have a hiatus as a computer programmer, back in the day of command line working (showing my age now).

I reached the rank of PADI Assistant Instructor. One of the best hobbies anyone can have.

I thought it was about time I put fingers to keyboard and get round to putting things in print. I was originally going to just concentrate on boating related matters, then I realized I had a lot more to say (and hopefully more people will want to read it).

There are a few websites, blogs and threads in forums that are genuinely well written and helpful, a lot of them unfortunately retreat into brand bashing, politics and other subjects not connected to boating and a heavy bias towards boating in America, there seems to be a lack of European influence.

I will get posts published on a regular basis, including technical posts, reviews, observations, musings and quite probably the odd rant. I hope you enjoy.
I would like to make it clear from the outset, I would never recommend products or services that I would not or have not used myself, that is not me. I have a policy about product reviews and product links here (link opens in a new window).
