Quick specs

    Make: RS Pro (RS Components)

Model: Uninsulated Terminal And Copper Lug Crimper

Type: Manual ratchet, for terminals of 6 to 25mm2, indent crimp.

Pros: Good value, not too big, easily fits in a toolbox, makes excellent crimps.

Cons: Honestly, I am struggling a bit to find any. As always, would like it to be cheaper.

This crimper is so useful, for me at least, 6, 10 & 16mm2 are probably the most used cables. Cable runs for sub panels, stereo amplifiers, maybe a larger duty pump. So instead of hauling around the larger crimper, Product review, heavy duty crimpers, this tool comes in very handy.

Crimped terminals
Top, open ended terminal, double crimp (don´t use these terminals if possible, closed end is better, this was for test purposes).
Middle, closed end long body terminal, double crimp.
Bottom, same terminal, reverse side note the "14" embossing. Please ignore my untidy cable stripping, I assure you it´s not normally so messy.

Like the larger crimp tool this is also an indent crimper, but instead of making one large indent into the terminal, this one makes two (see photos). I did not cut the terminal in half to check how the strands of wire had been compressed, I did however put the terminal in a bench vice and swung on it with all might, could not get it to budge.

If you look at the photos, you´ll see the terminal has a distinctive mark opposite the indent, the numbers embossed into the terminal correspond to the size of the crimp, in this case a 16mm2 terminal gets embossed with "14". Like the larger crimper, two crimps were made in the terminal.

This crimper is ratchet action, meaning as you squeeze down the handles to crimp the terminal you will hear the "click, click", the full ratchet action does not release until the handles have been bought back to their closed position, ensuring the correct crimp force is applied. Their in a round adjuster on one of the handles so if you realize you have put the terminal in the wrong set of crimping jaws you can release the handles.

Conclusion

If you are in need of a crimper for smaller section cables, don´t want to spend a fortune but need a tool that´ll get the job done, then this is for you. I really cannot say anything against it.
