When working on boats there is no such thing as too much light, working in engine rooms, painting and most recently, instead of being in the yard, working in the boat storage facility, my go to Brennenstuhl worklamp usually reserved for this was not going to offer the light needed and I needed it elsewhere for close up work in an anchor locker, hence the need for a new light.
I am not affiliated with RS Components in any way, but, I have to say everything I have bought or used from their RS Pro range has been spot on, and, this floodlight is no different. The brief was simple;
- Rechargeable
- Bright, very bright (perhaps obviously)
Quick specs
Make: RS Pro (RS Components)
Model: Portable floodlight, part number 276-1118
Luminosity: 800 - 2000 Lumens
Originally I was not looking for a floodlight, especially not one with a tripod style stand but I am so glad I did get one, never realized just how useful the stand is, one of those "how have I been doing this so long without it" sort of things. When working around boats or in the yard, the IP54 rating is useful, makes it resistant to dust and water splashes, adequate but not fully sealed.
A good feature is you can rotate and angle the individual "wings" of the lamp, if I were to add a feature it would be to be able to turn off the individual wings or perhaps a feature where you could only have one lit when you don't need them all going at once. I have not really made much use of the individual lighting settings, have just had it set to maximum all the time.
The light is on the heavier side and the tripod stand at its minimum height is still quite long, the specs say 800mm, so could be difficult to store or transport. The magnet is very strong, surprisingly so, it was on an overhead RSJ for days, it requires a bit of force to pull it off, there is a hook too, as of yet I have not used it.

Charging is easy enough via a USB C cable, there is no plug supplied, so you must use your own, these are common enough now to not worry. On the subject of charging, this floodlight has quite a large battery pack, I use a large USB charger for all these sorts of tools, I am not sure how long a phone charger transformer will take to charge the battery.

I would not hesitate to buy another of these floodlights or recommend them, the amount of light it puts out is phenomenal, its on the white end of the scale which I prefer, it just makes things easier to see. I have tested other products from the RS Pro range and this is another that I highly recommend.
